You have lots of old things on your shelves which make a complete mess and drive you crazy at the same time. Maybe it’s time to throw them away, but if you are little more creative you can give those items practical use. Susan Patterson is a blogger who in one of her articles gives some ideas which can help you to organize your space with the help of your old items.

It is well known that girls are crazy about jewelry and often they can’t find one of their earrings. To avoid this problem Susan says that the old records are the perfect solution for an earring holder. All you have to do is to place the record on a piece of wood. Then push a heated tip of a nail into the record until it breaks through to the other side. Make two holes on the outer edge of the record and tie a band through them and hang it on the wall.

The muffin tins are perfect for keeping the small things like paper clips, erasers etc on your desk. You can put the tins in the drawer or just put them on your desk. This is something that depends from you.

Besides the earrings, tangled necklaces can be a real headache for you. If you want to prevent this problem all you have to do is to take a piece a wood and clean it by sanding the rough places. The length of the wood depends from you and your wishes. On the underside of the piece of wood insert cup hooks and on the backside attach two hanging hooks.

Another thing which can be re-used is the old dish rack from your kitchen. This rack can be a perfect paper holder for your desk. By putting it there not only you will have all of your paper organized but also close-at-hand.

The toilet paper roll is another item which you can use as a holder to keep your extension cords organized. Wrap the cord around your hand and slide it through the roll. You can also decorate the roll by gluing some fabric on it.
